Sign-up and accounts
Who can create an account on a self-hosted deployment, and where a new account is placed.
Who can sign up
Sign-up is governed by the installer’s sign-up settings (see Sign-up settings). When Allowed Sign-Up Email Domain is *, sign-up accepts any email address *. Email verification is off by default. Require an Invitation to Join (off by default) stops people who sign up without an invitation from getting an organization of their own or joining one by email domain.
Where a new account is placed
A new account is placed as follows:
- If the person already belongs to an organization, they continue in it.
- If their email domain is mapped to an organization, they join it as a member. If that organization has a default sign-up workspace, they join that workspace; otherwise they receive a personal workspace. Each receives a personal assistant.
- If a fallback organization is configured, people from unmapped domains join it as members.
- Otherwise they receive a new organization of their own, as owner, with a workspace and a personal assistant that runs on your infrastructure and model gateway.
With open sign-up, anyone who can reach the application on your network can therefore create an account (P-08), and as an organization owner can use the infrastructure page if it is on (P-09).
For sign-in methods (password, single sign-on, SCIM), see Sign-in options.
