Watch, steer and finish a task
Once you send a task, it opens as a thread. The agent explains each step as it goes, and files appear in the thread as it makes them.
Watch its computer
Open ⋯ > Computer to see the agent’s desktop live. While the agent is using it, click the Computer button in the header instead. Click Fit entire desktop to see all of it. To type into it yourself, click the desktop, and your keys go to it. The agent can’t type while you have control, so press Ctrl+Shift+M, then Esc, to give it back.
Add an instruction while it runs
Type in “Message your agent…” and send. The message waits under Queued messages, and the agent reads it at its next step. To take a message back, click X on it.
Correct the agent early. A one-line correction in the first minute saves you from ten minutes of wrong work. If the result is nearly right, queue a correction rather than starting a new task, because a new task starts over and loses what the first one learned.
Answer approvals
If an agent’s permissions are set to “Ask first” for an action, such as sending an email, it asks before it acts. A card takes the composer’s place. Choose Allow once or Don’t allow. To allow more, open the arrow next to Allow once: one choice allows that kind of action until this task is done, and Always allow allows it from now on (click it a second time to confirm). Allowing until the task is done saves clicks on this job without changing what the agent may do in future tasks.
If you can’t answer straight away, choose Answer later. The task waits, and the question stays in Inbox > Needs you and under the bell. A task that is waiting for an answer can look stuck, so look in the thread or the bell first. Inbox > Needs you lists every task, in every workspace, that is waiting for you.
Stop, fork and tidy up
Click Stop in the composer to end the run. Anything the agent has already made is kept.
To try a different direction without losing the original, open ⋯ > Fork. It copies the whole conversation into a new task.
The ⋯ menu also has Rename, Tags…, Pin to sidebar and Copy link. Click Open in Drive in the header to see everything the task made.
Find old tasks
On Home, each agent has a row under your workspace that lists its tasks, with the ones that need you first. View all tasks shows the full list. For a board view, press ⌘K and type “Kanban”.
