Connect your apps

A connector links Context to another app, such as Gmail, Google Drive, Slack, GitHub or a CRM. Once an app is connected, agents can read from it and, when you allow it, act in it. You choose where each connector is used: in a task, in an agent, or in an applet.

Use a connector in a task

Use this for a one-off job.

In the composer, click the Connectors icon and pick each app this task may use. Each one goes into your message as a mention. Then describe the job, for example “Find last week’s emails from the Harbor & Pine team and list the open questions.” Mention only the apps the task needs.

Give a connector to an agent

Use this when the same kind of job comes up again and again.

  1. Open the agent’s Setup tab and add the apps under Connectors. The agent can then use those apps in every task it runs.
  2. Add only the apps the agent needs. Each one is a place it could take action.
  3. Check whose account the agent uses. Most apps ask each person to sign in, so the agent acts as whoever runs the task, and a person who hasn’t signed in sees Not signed in. When someone shares their connection instead, every task uses that one account, and only that person can reconnect it.
  4. Set the agent’s Permissions so actions in those apps are allowed, asked for first, or blocked. Decide what agents can do explains the options.

Use a connector in an applet

Use this when an applet needs live data from another app, such as a list of customers from your CRM.

When you build an applet, the agent asks which connectors it may use. You can also open the applet’s Connectors page to add or remove them later. The applet’s users then see data from those apps. To manage which connectors are available to applets across the organization, go to Applets > Manage connectors for applets.

When a connector row says something else

  • Reconnect needed or Not signed in: click the row and sign in again.
  • Ask an admin: your organization hasn’t set up that app yet. Ask your admin to set it up.
  • Not available in this workspace: the app is on for some workspaces but not this one. Ask an admin, or run the task from a workspace that has it.

For admins. Click Manage connectors (or go to Settings > Admin > Connectors) to add apps for the whole organization and choose which workspaces can use them. Use Install connector to add a custom one.
